Marica Airport

EnglishProjectMarica Airport

Maricá Airport, formerly an aerodrome, has emerged as a key druver of the local economy, experiencing rapid growth in the offshore sector and preparing to become an aviation hub for the general public.

Today, there are 21 daily flights to Petrobras platforms. In the coming months, it will multiply its operations and receive Azul Conecta flights, for passengers in general.

Under the administration of the City Hall, through Codemar, the airport concentrates its operations on flights to the platforms in the Santos and Búzios basins, an activity known as offshore. In addition, it also receives private aviation flights.

The strategic location, just 200 km from the Santos Basin, with a flight time of 50 minutes, and Codemar’s continuous investments have positioned Maricá Airport as a center of reference in the offshore market. In less than two years, the airport has tripled its operations and has been recognized by Petrobras, which maintains a monitoring room on site.

The current operations involve two of the main companies in the offshore sector, Omni and Líder Táxi Aéreo, offering a total capacity of 4,000 passengers per month. There are plans to expand these companies, with the arrival of more aircraft from Líder and the arrival of new operators, such as CHC, scheduled for 2024.

For passengers in general, Azul Conecta will start flights to São Paulo and other cities from February, providing additional benefits such as social fares for beneficiaries of social programs in Maricá, available through an app developed by Codemar.

The airport’s current structure includes two yards, four hangars, a passenger terminal, x-ray, internet, refueling and trolley. Expansions are underway, with work on Yard 3, doubling the number of aircraft positions. In addition, the construction of yard 4 and new hangars is already on the airport’s action plan.

Codemar’s trajectory at Maricá Airport began in 2014, when it took over management and began a process of transforming the airfield into an airport with offshore identity. After strategic partnerships in 2019, effective offshore operation began in 2022 with Omni. Codemar, still based at the airport, is building a new adjacent building to accommodate the airport’s accelerated growth.

Future plans also include the creation of a Public Aviation School, an unprecedented initiative in Brazil, consolidating Maricá Airport as a dynamic and innovative center for regional aviation.
